Oct 13: The Cape of Good Hope

Full days driving today.  We went down to the south west corner of Africa: Cape Point, and climbed to the lighthouse in Gale Force winds!  We had lunch sitting outside at the Two Oceans restaurant, thankfully sheltered from the wind.  We just HAD to.  Can't come all this way to miss the opportunity.  It's not everyday you can sit in luxury with uninterrupted views of two oceans!

But the whole of the Cape Point drive astounded us :  we have difficulty coming up with new adjectives to describe the coastal scenery - stunning, breathtaking, spectacular, fabulous!  We stopped of at a penguin colony, a couple of small seaside towns full of boutiques and curio shops.  By-passing the winery region because we just don't have enough days here to appreciate all that this region has to offer.  We can taste wines anywhere, but this coastline is unmissable.

Got back to the hotel too late for our complimentary sundowners, but no matter ... A quick change, a cheap taxi and before we know it we're supping delicious South African wines and great food from one of the many good restaurants in Cape Town: we're spoiled for choice.
